| Brief
History - How it all Began Valmiki families came to the U.K. same as other Asian families. Wherever they found work they settled. Some of our Valmiki families settled in Wolverhampton. Our elders, decided that we should organise our community and formed our own Valmiki sabha in Wolverhampton - The first time our sabha was organised. |
|||||||
| Over a number of years our community grew in Wolverhampton and across the U.K. Then the committee thought that our community would greatly benefit from having our own place of worship. Therefore m 1997, the committee managed to purchase the building where our temple is today. | |||||||
Founder committee members are:

Committee members when the building was purchased: 1. Mr.

These committee members and Trustee members went door to door, to Valmiki and non Valmiki families to raise money for the building. When we raised the sufficient funds and we succeeded in buying the building in 1997. Then the Temple Community centre officially opened by councillor Frank Docherty Mayor ofWolverhampton, on the 26th October 1997. Wolverhampton
Sabha would like to thank all the Valmiki families and non Valmiki families
who made very generous donations. During this time, the valmiki's made
great personal sacrifices, especially with only the very small number
of our elders, having limited knowledge of the English language and having
to rely on public transport. Om current committee members are still working
very hard, they are making great contributions. Many first and second
British Valmiki generations are following the path laid down by our founders. |
